Playful Art & Culture

Art holds the incredible ability to capture and express things, we otherwise struggle to say with words. It allows us to experience previously unknown ideas and feelings with our minds and bodies. These are qualities, art shares with play:

Play is a feeling, an embodied state of mind in which we experience novel thoughts and sensations before they become entrapped within language” – Rachel Shields

When art and culture merges with play, a new language and opportunity space is created with new ways of describing, participating in and influencing the world. We will explore how art and culture can be the result of playfully engaging with the world, and how it can can encourage civic participation as well as playful interactions, breaking down social and cultural barriers.
