Practical Information

If you’re travelling to CounterPlay, you probably have some questions about how to get here, where to stay and similar practical issues. This page is here to help!

You can easily get to Aarhus by train, bus or car from all over Denmark.

If you are flying in, the closest airport is Aarhus Airport, but it doesn’t have a lot of direct connections. Billund Airport is bigger, and not much further away (a little over an hour by bus). Depending on where you are travelling from, it may be easiest to fly to Copenhagen Airport and catch a train from there to Aarhus.

You can find more information about travelling to Aarhus at our partner Aarhus University’s website.

We have been using First Hotel Atlantic or Cabinn in the past, as they are situated right next to the festival venue, DOKK1.

You can also see “Hotels in Aarhus” and perform a search at

Apart from hotels, many people use airbnb to find a nice place to stay in Aarhus, and Couchsurfing is also an opportunity.

Parking is available right below the festival venue, Dokk1.

Read more about the parking facilities at Dokk1.

If you’re travelling to Aarhus, you may want to spend a few additional days to explore the town outside Dokk1 and the festival. While Aarhus is not a very big place, we do have many interesting things to see.
