CounterPlay Consulting has emerged out of the internationally acclaimed CounterPlay festival and the community growing around it since 2014.

Since 2013, we have been shaping CounterPlay into a unique and internationally acclaimed play festival, which helps cultivate a global play community. We are respected by researchers and practitioners alike, providing all our participants with valuable opportunities to explore

CounterPlay is founded on a firm belief that the mere existence of play will make our lives better. We’re convinced that play helps us live better lives, and that playful people are better equipped to cope with the complexity of the world. We wish to contribute to the ongoing exploration of play in order to allow everyone to live more playful lives in playful societies. We insist that any such attempt must build on a deep and sincere respect for play, where we strive to fully embrace and appreciate the inherent and beautiful ambiguity of play with all its many possible meanings and perspectives.

The festival lives on, while we’re also working on a range of other playful projects – our own and those of friends, partners and clients. In our efforts to make the world more playful, we’re eager to work with anyone who also see the value and power of play.
